STELR
STELR supplies high-quality, hands-on science, technology and engineering programs for secondary schools, designed to increase participation in STEM.
ASCA helps to increase the availability of these educational resources in regional and remote schools who may not otherwise have access to the program.
A message from The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE)
The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) is an independent, non-government organisation and charity which is led by a diverse Fellowship of over 900 of Australia’s leading applied scientists, technologists and engineers. We are an evidence-driven voice to decision-makers, and our world-class STEM career programs are shaping the knowledge-makers and innovators we need to tackle our most urgent challenges – now and in the future.
Thank you to ASCA and its members for generously supporting the STELR program, helping to get educational and inspirational science kits in the hands of students and teachers.
STELR is ATSE’s nationally recognised STEM education initiative, which uses hands-on equipment, inquiry learning and teacher resources to engage students in rich STEM learning, in a unique way. STELR kits have a renewable energy and sustainable engineering focus, tapping into students’ natural curiosity and inspiring our future scientists and engineers.
The program is aligned with the national science curriculum, and because it’s delivered in the classroom, all students have an opportunity to participate. Over its 15 year history, STELR has reached over 1 million students across Australia.
Thanks to ASCA, STELR kits have been provided to schools in regional and remote areas – where the purchase of such equipment might not otherwise be possible, and where students who are passionate about STEM are often not offered the same opportunities to explore their interests.
Thank you ASCA!
“I really liked how hands-on it was, you could interchange all the materials and the floors and everything really easily. I think more hands-on visual learning is easier for me to remember and take in, and I feel like I learned more and focused more.” STELR Student
